The Medford High School Board voted Thursday night to pursue an April 7 building referendum which will include a new fieldhouse and pool at Medford Area Senior High (MASH) as well as a question to fund the operating cost of $235,000 per year for the new addition.

The board added solar and in-floor heating to the project to bring the total cost to $13.19 million. Representatives from the district visited a similar solar system at an Osceola school and like what they saw.

The solar heating system will cost $175,000, but there is a 35 percent rebate from Focus on energy. The system will pay for itself in approximately seven to eight years, district administrator Steve Russ said.
