Bethke, Ewald A. (11 FEB 1928 - 9 DEC 2018)

Ewald A. Bethke, 90, Fond du Lac and formerly of Cornell, was pronounced dead Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, at the Hospice Home of Hope.

Ewald was born Feb. 11, 1928, the son of Arthur and Ida (Glenz) Bethke. He grew up on his family farm in Fall Creek. There, he met and married his wife, Vivian (Lieder), March 1, 1953. Ewald was drafted into the Korean War Jan. 3, 1954, and served in Japan and Korea. With an honorable discharge, he returned to Cornell, where he worked in the paper mill until his retirement.

He is survived by his son – Darwin (LaVonne) Bethke; granddaughter – Natalie (Eric) Shelton; great-granddaughter – Olivia Shelton; grandson – Joshua Bethke; and brother – Eldor (Delores) Bethke.

He was preceded in death by his wife – Vivian Bethke; sons – Phillip and Darrell Bethke; brothers – Harold and Werner Bethke; and sister – Lydia Miske.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 21, at Ascension Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac, with Pastor Jeff Blain officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Hospice Home of Hope, who so lovingly and compassionately helped Ewald enter into eternal life.
