This years the Van Huizen-Fritz American Legion Post and the Auxiliary have
again decided to sponsor two girls to the Badger Girls State, which will be held
June 9 – 16, 1973 in Madison. The girls chosen by the Owen-Withee faculty to
represent the school are Barbara Rohland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Rohland
of rural Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), and Patty Steiner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Wendell Steiner, also of Withee.
The Badger Boy chosen by the faculty to go to Badger Boys State at Ripon College
June 16 – 23 was Wayne Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Armand Miller of rural
Withee, with Lash Fritz as his alternative.
These young people are selected from the Junior Class of the Owen-Withee High
School by the high school faculty. Scholarship, extra-curricular activities, and
the ability to fit into the state program as set up for these students, were the
criteria used in their selection.
