Dreikosen, Rose Marie E. (Blume) (27 OCT 1933 - 14 NOV 2018)

Rose Marie E. Dreikosen, age 85, Marathon, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

She was born Oct. 27, 1933, in the town of Cassel, daughter of the late Robert and Marie (Kamenick) Blume. On Oct. 27, 1952, she married Allan Phillip Dreikosen at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2003.

Rose Marie spent many hours making prayer shawls for the Aspirus Cancer Center in Wausau. She made a total of 178 shawls. Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed bowling, gardening, crocheting, playing cards, setting puzzles, baking, making candy and hosting mock weddings for family and friends. Rose Marie also enjoyed spending time volunteering at Color Vision with her church group.

Survivors include eight children, John (Mary Kay) Dreikosen, Marathon, Sandra (Steve) Atkinson, Madison, Sue (Steve) Olson, Dubuque, Iowa, Mary (Steve) Lang, Holmen, James (Sue) Dreikosen, Wausau, Norbert (Nancy) Dreikosen, Wausau, Donna (Randy) Butalla, Marathon and Lee (Lynn) Dreikosen, Merrill; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two siblings, Geraldine (Tom) Fechhelm, Wausau and Marvin (Bev) Blume, Marathon; six sisters-in-law, Joyce Huhnstock, Jean Mangold, Sister Marcella Marie Dreikosen (Diane); Rita Thompson, LaVonne (Martin) Wieloch and Val (Charles) Miller; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Allan, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Cindy Lou Dreikosen; one grandson, Travis Dreikosen; and one sister, Dorothy Springer as well as two sisters-in-law and five brothers-in-law.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier presided. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Visitation was on Sunday from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon and again on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
