Bernt, Brigitte (26 JUL 1969)

July 26, 1969 at 1:30 p.m., Rev. David Schroeder joined Miss Brigitte Bernt and Virgil Underwood in marriage. The ceremony took place at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Milan. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Bernt and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Underwood, all of rural Abbotsford.

Attending the bride were maid of honor, Miss Linda Wellman, Abbotsford, Mrs. Dennis Orth, Abbotsford, and Mrs. Duane Underwood, Dorchester. Attendants for the bridegroom were, best man, Dennis Orth, Abbotsford, Helmut Bernt, Abbotsford, and Duane Underwood, Dorchester.

Mrs. Orville Barkow was organist. Performing the ushering duties were Walter Bernt and Darrell Underwood, both of Abbotsford.

The traditional bridal gown with detachable court train was fashioned of sheer organza over faille taffeta and trimmed with lace. The fitted empire bodice had a scoop neckline and short bell sleeves of Victorian crocheted lace. An organza bow centered the waistline, and a soft A-line skirt was slightly shirred at the sides of the waistline with a deep border of the crocheted lace, with scalloped edging encircling the skirt at the hemline. The organza train extended from the neckline into a full chapel train and was bordered with the same scalloped edging lace trim. The bouffant veil of silk illusion was secured to a rolled organza rose on a flat bow with lace petaled brim trimmed with pearls and crystals.

The attendants wore floor length formals of nectar polyanza over taffeta styled with tucked bodice having a daisy outlined jewel neckline and long puffed sleeves edged with daisy trim. A band of the fabric encircled the fitted waistline with a large bow at the back. The skirts were semi-bouffant and a band of the daisy trim centered the dress from the neckline to the hem. They wore forward headpieces having wired tulle leaf brim centered with a grosgrain straw bow and floral clusters to which short jet veils were attached in the same shade as the dresses.

The bride's cascade bouquet consisted of apricot roses and white mum trimmed with ivy and greens. The attendants circular bouquets consisted of white and apricot tinted daisies and mums trimmed with green and white streamers.

Following the wedding ceremonies a reception, dinner and dance took place at the Trianon Ballroom. Music was provided by Charlies B and his band.

The bride is a 1967 graduate of Abbotsford High School and has been employed at Employers Mutual Insurance Company at Wausau. The bridegroom graduated at Abbotsford High School in 1963 and is employed at Northern Star Trailer Company, Stratford.

Residence of the new couple will be rural Abbotsford.
