Shirk, Esther M. (Brubaker) (22 JUN 1953 - 13 OCT 2018)

Esther M. Shirk, age 65 of Town of Hixon passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at her residence.

Services will be at 9:30 am on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Meadow Brook Mennonite Church in the Town of Withee. Daniel Brubaker, Emory Burkholder, Marvin Leid, Elvin Fox, Andrew Brubaker, and John David Zimmerman will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Walter Brubaker, John Brubaker, Nevin Brubaker, Josh Shirk, Justin Shirk, and Leon Ray Shirk. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the residence (N16147 Clark Ave).

Esther was born on June 22, 1953 in Berks County, PA, the daughter of Benjamin and Martha (Martin) Brubaker. She was united in marriage to Leon Z. Shirk on November 30, 1972 in Berks County, PA. They moved from Pennsylvania to the Withee area to farm in April 1977.

Esther is survived by her husband: Leon Z. Shirk; her three sons: Joshua (Grace Ann) Shirk, Justin (Janelle) Shirk and Leon Ray Shirk; nine daughters: Ida Jean (Roy) Hoover, Lucinda (Landis) Sauder, Dorothy (Glenn) Sauder, Joanna (Lester) Brubaker, Esther Mae (Elvin) Zimmerman, Perceda (Lamar) Nolt, Sarah Jane (Leroy) Brubaker, Sylvia Grace (Leroy) Nolt, Martha Maria (Wayne) Brubacher; three brothers: Walter (Vera) Brubaker, John (Laura) Brubaker, and Nevin (Pauline) Brubaker; and one sister: Anna (Alvin) Hoover. Esther is further survived by 56 grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law; three grandchildren; two sisters; two sisters-in-law; and a brother-in-law.
