Goessl, Robert “Bob” John (23 MAR 1938 - 8 SEP 2018)

Robert “Bob” John Goessl, 80, of Medford, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at his residence, surrounded by his family, under the care of Hope Hospice.

Bob was born on March 23, 1938 to Orlando Frank and Helen Josephine (Kapfhamer) Goessl in Dorchester. He attended Medford schools and was a graduate of Medford High School class of 1956. He married Mary Joann Stelzel on September 1, 1958, she survives.

Bob farmed from 1968 – 1997 on the Goessl Farms in the town of Little Black. He then worked for Comfort Carrier until his retirement. He was also a parts salesman for Northern Auto prior to farming. Bob was a member of the National Guard, the Taylor County Board, Mink Capital Flying Club, and Knights of Columbus. In his spare time Bob enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, hunting, and playing cards with family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his children, Mary Beth (Wayne) Bixby, Mark Robert (Kathy) Goessl, Michael John (Mary) Goessl, and Bradley Joseph (Holly) Goessl, all of Wisconsin; siblings, Judy (William) Strebig, of Weston, John “Jack” (Linda) Goessl of Tomahawk, David (Anna) Goessl of Perkinstown, Glenn (Suzanne) Goessl of Medford, Steven Goessl of Medford, Dale (Sue) Goessl of Vesper, and Jeff (Katie) Goessl of Mosinee; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his daughter Mary Michelle “Shelly” Goessl and brothers, Tom, Bruce, and Donald Goessl.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Bob will take place at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Mike Hayden officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM.

Bob’s family would like to thank the Oncology Department and Medford Aspirus, Hope Hospice, and their family and friends for their love and support.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Bob’s name may be given to either The Special Olympics or Hope Hospice.

Hemer Funeral Service of Medford and Rib Lake has been entrusted with arrangements.
