Seidel, Roland “Rollie” L. (1926? - 3 SEP 2018)

Roland “Rollie” L. Seidel, 92, Weston, formerly of Milwaukee, died Monday September 3, 2018 at Pride TLC in Weston. Roland was born to the late Ryan and Helena (Hartwig) Seidel in the Tomahawk, WI area.

When World War II broke out, the family moved to Manitowoc, Wisconsin where Roland attended Lincoln High School. While attending High School, Roland worked in the Manitowoc Shipyard helping the war effort by building submarines. Roland joined the U.S. Army in May 1942, in the Airborne, 379th Bombardment Group. He served his country honorably stationed in Kimbolton, England, installing and maintaining Sonar in B-17 bombers.

After the war, Roland moved to the Milwaukee area and attended college. In the late 1940s, he met and married Evelyn Wilda on June 5, 1948. The couple were later divorced. Together they had two sons. Roland worked for Bark River Equipment and Culverts from 1961 until retiring as General Manager in 1992.

In the early 1970s, Roland met a widow, Shirley Spencer Klug. They were married on December 27, 1975. They were able to live a “good life” of summers in Wisconsin and winters in Florida until 2015, when Roland had congestive heart failure. They then moved into the Pride TLC in Weston, where Shirley still resides.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Shirley; her two children, Patricia Klug and Michael Klug; grandchildren, Nicole Klug, Marcus Klug and Daniel and Janet Anderson; great-grandchildren, Austin and Sophia Anderson; his brother, Art (Joyce) Seidel and Art’s children, Sandy Wegner, Wendy Taddey (Daniel) Gottschalk and Steven (Corrine) Seidel; and grand-nieces and nephews, Krista, Ryan and Kayla Wegner, Mitch Taddey, Ross Gottschalk and Rebekah and Rachel Seidel.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn and both sons, James and John Seidel and a step-daughter, Linda Klug.

A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Ave., Wausau. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Pine Lawn Cemetery, Milwaukee, at a later date.
