Paulson, Sandra (Burtard) (22 OCT 1946 - 12 AUG 2018)

Sandy was born on Oct. 22, 1946, to Gilbert and Elsie Burtard of Curtiss, and passed away on June 27, 2018. She was a resident of Oregon City, Ore.

She grew up on the family farm near Curtiss, attended Park Elementary and DorAbby High School. She was a dental technician in Eau Claire where she met her future husband Jim, a software engineer at a local meat company. They were married in Eau Claire on Nov. 11, 1967, and moved to Portland, Ore., in 1968. Jim was born and raised near Gilmanton.

After raising a family, Sandy continued her education and graduated from the University of Portland with honors and a B.A. in education in 1990. After starting her teaching career, she continued her education, graduating from Portland State University Masters program with honors in 1996, and her thesis was autism. Her love for teaching children was a life-long dream and succeeded in helping children with learning difficulties.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Jim; sons, Michael, Marcus and Dana; daughter, Linnea; and grandchildren, Hannah, Keira and Willie.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a baby sister, Linda Kay.

Sandy had frontotemporal dementia, quite possibly caused by a traumatic brain injury from a vehicle accident in 2011.

Cremation services were performed by Crown Memorial Center in Milwaukie, Ore.
