Fischer, Carl (2 OCT 1917 – 28 JUN 1969)

Carl Fischer, 51, of route 1, Abbotsford, was found dead in the yard of his home Saturday morning about 11:45 by passing motorists.

He apparently died of a heart ailment while mowing his lawn.

The body lay in state at the Polnaszek Funeral Home, Abbotsford, beginning Tuesday noon, and funeral services were held at Christ Lutheran Church, Abbotsford Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, with Rev. F.H. Sprengler officiating. Burial was made in the Abbotsford Cemetery.

Carl Fischer was born October 2, 1917 in Czechoslovakia, and was educated there. On June 19, 1942 he was married to Gerda Franz at Helmstedt, Germany. During World War II he served as a paratrooper with the Luftwaffe in Germany.

In 1952 the family came to Abbotsford. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Congregation.

He is survived by his widow and two sons, Heinz Fischer of Bristol, Wisconsin, and Peter, who is presently serving in Vietnam. There is one grandchild.

He also has one brother, Frederick Fischer, in East Germany.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
