Herrick, Grant W. (25 JAN 1895 – 27 NOV 1972)

Funeral service will be held today (Thursday) at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Curtiss for Grant W. Herrick, 77, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.) who died at his home Monday evening following a heart attack.

The Rev. Lester Kringle, pastor of the Alliance Church in Owen, will officiated, and interment will take place in the Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery near Curtiss, with graveside military rites conducted by the Fitz-Van Huizen Post of Owen.

Masonic and Eastern Star services were conducted Wednesday evening at the Hoeper & Kraut Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Alfred Thompson, Neil Green, Milford Marcott, Art Thompson, Tony Hennlich, and Harold Trimner.

Mr. Herrick was born January 25, 1895 in Madison, and received his education in Madison schools. He was married July 7, 1918, in Draper, to the former Myrtle Crawford, who preceded him in death November 30, 1966. He had been a rural mail carrier out of Curtiss for 41 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I, in France and Germany. He had been a resident of Curtiss since 1919.

He was a member of the National Association of Retired Civil Service Employees, the National Rural Letter Carriers Association, the American Legion Post, and the Order of Eastern Star. He was a past master of the Abbotsford Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Eau Claire Scottish Rite Consistory.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth, Milwaukee, and Grant Jr., Columbus; a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Gwendolyn) Peterson, Curtiss; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Fern) Ford, Westfield; Mrs. Paul (Hazel) Lobrenz, Packwaukee; and Mrs. Francis Clark, Citrus Heights, California.
