Picus, Bella (1875? – 18 SEP 1972)

Mrs. William (Bella) Picus, 97, and a resident of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) the past 35 years, died peacefully in her sleep at 6 p.m. Monday, September 18, 1972 at the Stanley Hospital. She succumbed to complications due to old age.

She was born in Kiev, Russia, coming to the United States as a young girl. She and her husband, the late William Picus, were in the grocery and clothing business in Owen from 1937 to 1954.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Samuel.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Goodman-Bensman, 4750 N. Santa Monica Boulevard, Milwaukee. An Orthodox Jewish service was conducted by the Rabbi of the Orthodox Jewish Faith, today (Thursday), September 21 at 11 a.m. at the West Chapel. She was buried at the Second Home Jewish Cemetery in Milwaukee.

She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Annette Overby, New York City; Mrs. Ruth Pedersen of rural Withee; Mrs. Sarah Springer, Freeport, Long Island, New York; Mrs. Jean Wright and Mrs. Pauline Reynard of New York City; a granddaughter, Mrs. Arthur (Naomi) Bissette of Bethel, Connecticut; five you great-grandsons and a niece.

The family request that any memorial be sent to the National Jewish Hospital, Denver, Colorado.
