Patricia L. Newkirk, 87, was called home on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 after a short and courageous battle with cancer.

Pat born on May 16, 1931 to Lewis and Margaret (Verch) Pfeiffer in West Allis. She married Phillip A. Newkirk, of Baraboo, on Oct. 15, 1949. They raised their eight children in East Troy and Ladysmith.

Pat enjoyed school and competitive speed skating when she was in her youth. As she aged, she enjoyed times with family, friends and an occasional visit to the casino to test her luck. She cherished time with her lady friends having Bible studies at each other homes, taking walks, chatting and enjoying a meal together. Ceramics and baking Christmas Cookies were some of her favorite hobbies.

Pat cheered for the Packers, Badgers, Brewers and Bucks. She enjoyed watching all types of the sports, but particularly tennis. She loved to play Skipo, Pick-up-Sticks and other games with the grandchildren, usually accompanied by a cheese sandwich and a peanut butter shake.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Phil Newkirk, her younger and only sibling, Bev Jolitz of Reno, Nev.; her son, Brian Newkirk (Laurie-still living) of Paris, Mich. and her daughter, Beverly Smith of Fort Dodge, Iowa. She was also preceded in death by her two daughters-in-law, Regi Newkirk and Judy Newkirk.

Pat is survived by her children, Phil Newkirk (Regi) of Elkhorn, Raoul Newkirk (Judy) of Rochester, Sandy Miller (Bob) of Rochester, Brett Newkirk (Barbara) of Adell, Vickie Fisher (Tate Emery) of Shell Lake and Chris Newkirk (Chrissy) of Ladysmith. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed by her many family members, in-laws and friends.

A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 28 at Nash-Jackan Funeral Home in Bruce followed by a Scripture Service by Deacon Craig Voldberg at noon. Burial will immediately follow the service at Bruce Village Cemetery.

After the burial, friends and family are invited to share a meal and storied of Pat at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bruce.
