Ammentorp, Thorvald (9 NOV 1895 – 27 APR 1972)

Funeral services were held for Thorvald Ammentorp. 76, Monday, May 1, 1972, at 2 p.m. from the Nazareth Lutheran Church of Withee, with Pastor Sullivan officiating. Burial was made at the parish cemetery, with the American Legion Post 123 conducting graveside services.

Serving as pallbearers were grandsons, James, Zwiefelhofer, Richard Ammentorp, Roger and David Konieczny, Lee Telin, and Alan Ammentorp.

The deceased had been in ill health for the past few months. He passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield on April 27, 1972.

Mr. Ammentorp was born November 9, 1895 in Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), and was married to Clara Lang, who preceded him in death in 1951. His second Marriage took place May 28, 1954, in Owen, to Helen Duce Tyler, who survives. He was a veteran of World War I, and had farmed in the Town of Hixon for 30 years. He was also employed as a fireman at Post Company for many year, retiring in 1965.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; four sons, Harold, Milwaukee; Richard, Menomonee Falls; Vernon, Kenosha; and Fred, serving in the U.S. Navy in Japan; five daughters, Mrs. Frank (Ellen) Zwiefelhofer, Bloomer; Mrs. Eric (Dorothy) Telin, Marshfield; Mrs. Frank (Phyllis) Konieczny, Thorp; Mrs. Robert (Betty) Pence, Argonne; and Mrs. Robert (Helen) Hart, Racine; a stepson, Leslie Tyler, Mundelein, Illinois; three step-daughters, Mrs. Lucille Demeuling, Mrs. Mabel Ivy, both of Murando, California, and Mrs. Gladys Lentz, Coas Bay, Oregon; 25 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
