Acker, Ruby (12 MAR 1899 – 16 MAR 1972)
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Acker, a former Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) resident,
were held here yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, March 22, 1972, at the United
Church of Christ, with Pastor Hilding Peterson officiating.
Burial was made in the cemetery at Greenwood (Clark Co.).
Pallbearers were Dr. Allen Pacholke, Ervin Nichols, William Wollum, and Paul,
Ted and Richard Acker.
The deceased lost her life in a car-train accident that occurred at McAllen,
Texas on March 16, 1972.
The former Ruby Long was born March 12, 1899 in the Town of Mentor, Clark
County. On April 12, 1920 she was united in marriage to the late Ed Acker. They
lived in Owen until 1940, and resided in Sparta and Minneapolis, Minnesota,
where he passed away in September of 1962. Mrs. Acker then moved to McAllen,
Texas, where she had made her home the past 10 years. In 1965 she was married to
Robert Duenow, and he too preceded her in death, having died in 1967.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. James (Patricia) Haire, Minneapolis; also
four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
