Ranta, Martha W. (28 APR 1906 – 16 NOV 1971)

Martha W. Ranta, 65, of 1105 Yeoman Street, Waukegan, Ill., died Tuesday, November 16, 1971, at Lake Forest Hospital. She was born April 28, 1906 in Ishpeming, Michigan.

She lived in Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), Racine and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin until 1932. She has been a resident of Waukegan since 1942. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Carl J., and one son, Carl Henry; three granddaughters and three grandsons; three sisters, Mrs. Sally Peterson of Glendale, Arizona; Mrs. Ruth (Melvin) Anderson of Withee, and Mrs. Gertrude (Arthur) Hakola of Loyal; two brothers, Henry Wirtala and Walfred Wirtala, both of Waukegan, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her father Nels, in 1971, and her mother in 1939, one sister, Helen, and two brothers, Arnie and William.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 20, at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Waukegan, with the Rev. Melvin Meyer officiating. Interment was made at North Shore Garden of Memories.
