Serwe, John B. (2 AUG 1928 - 26 MAY 2018)
John B. Serwe, 89, of Stratford, passed away at his residence on Saturday, May
26, 2018 surrounded by his children and with care provided by Ministry Home Care
Hospice. His devoted friend, his dog Roscoe, was at his side.
His funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Life
Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer. Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
A visitation will be held on Sunday at the funeral home from 11:00 am until time
of services.
John was born in Campbellsport, Wisconsin on August 2, 1928, the son of Barthol
and Mary (Schwabe) Serwe. He married Joyce A. Telschow in Indiana on August 9,
1952. John and Joyce owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Eau Pleine,
while raising and providing for their 12 children. John also worked for the U.S.
Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service for 17 years.
John's hobbies included gardening, caring for his horses, and playing cards with
his relatives and friends. He had a genuine sense of humor and a charm that he
loved to share with those around him. He loved to smile and to tell stories. He
will be missed.
Survivors include twelve children: Barthol (Debra) Serwe, Mary Felten, Joe
Serwe, LuAnn (Dave) Geldernick, Cheairee (Lee) Schwanebeck, John (Christine)
Serwe, Alice Serwe, Rose (Mike) Weigel, Helen (Gary) Szymanski, Matt Serwe, Barb
(Bryan) Karlen, and Pierre (Kari) Serwe; 27 grandchildren; 14
great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; his parents, Barthol and Mary;
one brother, Joseph; three sisters, Mary, Germaine, and Agnes; and his
son-in-law, Terry Felten.
Arrangements are entrusted to Life Tributes Funeral Home-Spencer.
