Vetterkind, Richard E. (7 NOV 1941 – 16 MAR 2018)

Richard E. Vetterkind, 76, of Chippewa Falls died Friday, March 16, 2018, at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born on November 7, 1941, to the late Ruben and Velva (Moore) Vetterkind. Richard grew up south of Thorp and went to Thorp schools. He was a longtime truck driver for Stewart Livestock, Lenertz Livestock, Armstrong Trucking, and many others before his retirement.

He enjoyed fishing, being with family and friends, and telling old truck driving stories. He had a big heart and was always ready to help out anybody, whether he was at home or on the road. The cattle came first when he was hauling a load, and he was always on time.

Richard is survived by his brothers: Pat (Bridgett) Vetterkind of Chippewa Falls and Lynn Vetterkind of Longwood; his children: Jim Vetterkind of Canton, South Dakota, Christine Anderson of Cottage Grove, Minnesota and Bridget (Charles) Schroeder of Eau Claire; a step-daughter, Jody (Jesse) Shimko of Bruce; six grandchildren: Shawna, Dillon, Charisse, Tyler, Paul and Carl; and two great-grandchildren, Vivian and Nolan. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, James.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p JTI. on Sunday, May 6th in Riverside Cemetery, Withee with a 1 p.m. Celebration of Life at Cindy's Hall, Thorp.
