Herdrich, Robert W. "Bob" (24 MAY 1933 – 31 MAR 2018)

Robert W. “Bob” Herdrich, 84, Eau Claire, formerly of Loyal, died on Saturday, March 31, 2018. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, April 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd., Eau Claire, with Rev. Brahm Semmler Smith officiating. There will be no visitation on Tuesday morning at the church or Tuesday afternoon at the Classic at Hillcrest Greens prior to the services. Visitation with a luncheon will take place in the Trinity Room at the church at the conclusion of the memorial service. Another memorial service will take place at 3 p.m., on Tuesday April 10, at the Classic at Hillcrest Greens, 2455 Sawgrass Place, Altoona.

Bob was born on May 24, 1933, to Reno and Elsie (nee Luchterhand) Herdrich, at the family farm in the township of Beaver, Clark County. His education started in a one-room school with grades 1-8. He graduated from Loyal High School on May 23, 1950. In December 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was assigned to an aircraft carrier until he was injured overseas and was sent to the U.S. Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Md. He received an honorable medical discharge on June 5, 1952. On June 25, 1954, Bob married the love of his life, Dorothy Capelle. They were blessed with two sons, Jeff and Rick. Bob held several sales jobs until he became a State Farm Insurance agent in 1958. Bob retired from State Farm on Feb. 28, 1998, as did Dorothy, who was the office and business manager. After retirement, he spent time traveling to the family cabin in Idaho and the Hawaiian Islands. His main hobbies were camping, hunting, fishing and carpentry work.

He is survived by his two sons: Jeff (Pam) Herdrich of Rexburg, Idaho, and Rick (Gretchen) Herdrich of Stone Lake; two grandsons: Ryan (Stephanie) Herdrich of Shakopee, Minn., and Adam (Meredith) Herdrich of Oakdale, Calif.; three greatgrandchildren: William, Ana and Matthew, all of Shakopee, Minn.; a brother, Harold (Janice) Herdrich of California; two sisters: Margaret Zimmerman of Stratford, and Veryl Holmes of Wausau; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy.

Bob requested that memorials be given to the Boy Scouts of America, Chippewa Valley Council, or Trinity Lutheran Church.
