After the military, he moved back to Chippewa Falls, where he met and married the love of his life, Delores Ann Schick, July 5, 1955. He worked at O.K. Rubber Welders in Chippewa Falls, his path then took him to Rockford, Ill., where his son, Tim, and daughter, Rita, were born.

Harold then decided to open his own tire shop in Platteville. While living there, the family was blessed with three more children – Dan, Ben and Steve. The couple lived in Platteville, running Harold’s Tire and raising their children.

The couple retired to Cornell in December 2010, where Delores passed in 2013.
