Segerstrom, Roy (24 MAY 1899 – 26 JUN 1970)

Roy Segerstrom, prominent businessman and civic leader in both Owen and Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) communities for many years, succumbed to a lingering illness June 26, 1970. He passed away at 6:15 that evening at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been admitted on the 15th. He had been in failing health the past two years.

At seven o'clock Sunday evening Masonic Rites were held at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home, with final rites being conducted from the funeral home at 1:15 Monday afternoon. Rev. Hilding Peterson, pastor of the United Church of Christ, Owen, conducted the service, with burial being made at Riverside Cemetery.

Arlyn Mills served as vocalist and was accompanied by Shelia Koplitz at the organ.

Honorary pallbearers were Rol Haire, Lee Jensen, S.E. Grimes, Sig. Sorensen, Calving Mills and H.M. Wollum. Serving as regular pallbearers were James Petersen, , Lucius Bowen, Edgar Albert, Leon Bruchert, Carl Jensen and Elmer Haselow.

Roy Oscar Segerstrom, 71, was born May 24, 1899 at River Falls, Wisconsin. There he received his education, being graduated from high school and River Falls College. He was a veteran of World War I, serving with the S.A.T.C. unit. On August 6, 1930 he was united in marriage to the former Helen M. Dawson in a ceremony performed at Anoka, Minnesota.

Mr. Segerstrom was a half century member of the American Legion, an organization in which he had been most active. He, too, was an active Mason, having served as Master of three different lodges – at River Falls, Srping Valley and Owen, and a member of the Neillsville Commandery. His business career was associated with the building industry over a period of 40 years in Owen and Spring Valley.

Survivors include his wife Helen; two sons, David of New Lisbon and Robert of Sterling, Colorado, and five granddaughters.
