Ruppert, Erva R. (Bennett) (31 MAR 1921 - 20 FEB 2018)

Erva R. Ruppert, 96, of Colby passed away Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018, at The Waterford Assisted Living in Colby.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford. Friends and family are welcome 9 a.m. on Saturday until the time of the service at the church. Pastor Marcia Thomas will preside. Burial will follow at the Abbotsford Public Cemetery.

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

Erva R. Ruppert, age 96, of Colby passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at The Waterford Assisted Living in Colby.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford. Friends and family are welcome 9:00 am on Saturday until the time of the service at the church. Pastor Marcia Thomas will officiate. Burial will follow at the Abbotsford Public Cemetery.

Erva was born on March 31, 1921, the daughter of Fred and Madge (Hanawalt) Bennett in March Rapids. She graduated from Unity High School in 1938. On September 7, 1940, Erva was united in marriage to Harold Ruppert at First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford. Together they farmed in rural Colby from 1940-77 and then moved to Abbotsford in 1977. She went to work at Creative Automation, retiring in 2012 at the age of 91.

Erva was very active all her life in the Abbotsford Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday School and VBS for a number of years. Erva was a former Deacon, Elder and Clerk of Session. She baked all the treats for the fellowship hour for every Sunday for many years. Erva and Grace Schraufnagel were in charge of meals for all funerals for many years.

Erva is survived by six children: David (Yvonne) of Colby, Carol (John) Busse of Shawano, Eugene (Pam) of Clintonville, Dean (Jean) of Clintonville, Penny (Dennis) Pohle of Beaver Dam and Sandra Brown of Litchfield; 13 grandchildren: Jim, Tom and Steve Ruppert, Michael Busse, Cheryl Truss, Lindsay Rush, Tyler Ruppert, Matt Ruppert, Tim Ruppert, Nathan Pohle, Tiffany Pohle, David and Cassidy Brown; eight great-grandchildren. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; two brothers, Ralph and Merton Bennett; two sisters, Florence Fenske and Edna Jeske and a half-sister, Pansy Brandt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford.
