Severson, Virginia E. (25 JUN 1923 – 19 FEB 2018)

Virginia E. Severson, 94, Marshfield, formerly of Loyal, passed away on Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at Three Oaks Health Center, Marshfield. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Feb. 22, at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. on Thursday until service time. Rev. Mark Krueger will officiate. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery at a later date.

Virginia Mengel was born on June 25, 1923, in Loyal, the daughter of Albert and Gertrude (nee Bolander) Mengel and was a 1941 graduate of Loyal High School. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, war hero, and Battle of the Bulge veteran, Bernard H. “Pat” Severson, on July 30, 1946, in Greenwood. He passed on Nov. 21, 1999. Virginia had been employed as a cashier at various grocery stores, lastly at South Parkway in Marshfield, for many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Gerald) Krall of Marshfield; her granddaughter, Kelly (Tim) Kraus of Marshfield; and two great-grandchildren, Timothy and Madison of Marshfield.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; a sister, Violet Perkins; a brother, William Mengel; and her best friend for 75 years, Dorothy “Dort” Schubert.
