Trippler, Reid M. (26 FEB 1942 - 21 MAR 2012)

Reid M. Trippler, 70, of Jump River, Wis., formerly of Chippewa Falls, Wis., died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at his residence.

He was born February 26, 1942, in Manitowoc, Wis., to Catherine (Halvorson) and Mark Trippler. He attended St. Charles grade school and McDonell High School in Chippewa Falls. At age 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving honorably for four years during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Reid married Kathleen Hassemer on December 1, 1962, and later divorced.

He was employed at Uniroyal in Eau Claire, Wis., until the plant closed. He then worked at SFR in Cadott, Wis., retiring at age 62. Following his retirement, Reid moved to his cabin in Jump River. He enjoyed hunting, watching the Green Bay Packers, four-wheeling and spending time with his friends and family. He also enjoyed a good game of Texas Hold'em.

Survivors include a daughter, Tracey (Ken) Mitich of Hudson, Wis.; three sons, Scott (Tracy) Trippler of Eau Claire, Dale Trippler of Chippewa Falls, Dean Trippler of Eau Claire; a brother Neil Trippler of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren, Bryan, Kevin, Jennifer, Rachel, Blake and Kennedy Trippler, Kayla Mitich, Bailey Decker; his beagle and best friend, Buddy; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Scott W. Trippler; a sister-in-law, Jean Trippler; and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Trippler.

Reid inspired so many people and he was a friend to everyone. He had so much life in him and had a second family up in Jump River. He took so many people under his wing and had a huge heart. He was known as the storyteller around and made everyone feel important and special. No matter where he went, he knew someone, somehow. He loved to play practical jokes and had such a mischievous spirit. He made a memorable impact on everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls, with the Rev. Robert Hoekstra officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.

A visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday at the funeral chapel. A graveside service will be at 12 p.m., Monday, March 26, at the Mount Nebo Cemetery in Jump River.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated.

Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls, is serving the Trippler family.
