Junior Kiwanian Olivia Hanson (December - 2017)

Olivia Hanson

The Neillsville Kiwanis Junior Kiwanian program served several important functions. It provides members with an opportunity to interact with the community’s youth, gives recognition to the outstanding achievements of selected high school seniors, and offers insight into the functions of a service organization. In keeping with this long-standing tradition, the club is pleased to have Olivia Hanson as its Junior Kiwanian for the month of December. She is the daughter of Jeff and Amy Hanson, and was introduced to the club at the Dec. 4 meeting.

While being involved in sports, extra-curricular activities, and work in the community, Hanson presents herself as a strongly-motivated young person who fully uses the high school experience e to prepare for the next level of her education, and the career path it will lead to. She is a member of the National Honor Society, and the Spanish National Honor Society, has served on student council, and belongs to the Spanish, History, Fine Arts, and BLAST clubs. Additionally, Hanson is in choir, where she has competed in solo and ensemble, and has been named to Cloverbelt All-Conference Choir. She has participated in school musicals, and served on the Junior Prom Committee for the Class of 2018.

As a good example of a student-athlete, Hanson competes in volleyball, basketball – where she is part of a long-standing, successful program, and track, where she has been a three-time sectional qualifier.

In addition to her academic, and extra-curricular activities, Hanson is employed part-time as a waitress at Schmitty’s on Main.

Following graduation next spring, she plans to attend St. Norbert’s College to pursue degrees in biology and pre-med.

The Junior Kiwanian program of the Neillsville Kiwanis Club helps to spot-light exceptional senior students like Olivia Hanson and to encourage them to be involved in service-related activity throughout their life.
