Stafford, Harry Arthur (22 September 1895 – 9 September 1974)

Funeral services were to be held in Greenwood at 2 p.m. Wednesday for Harry Arthur Stafford, 78, former substitute mail carrier, who died early Monday in Neillsville. The Wallis-Hinker American Legion Post, of which he was a member, was in charge. The Rev. Lee Holmes, former Greenwood pastor now of Marshfield, took part, and burial was made in the Greenwood city cemetery.

The son of John D. and Nellie (Benedict) Stafford, he was born September 22, 1895, in Janesville. At the age of 11 years he came with his parents to this area and settled on a farm southwest of Greenwood. The Stafford family remained there until a tornado destroyed their farm buildings, then moved onto a farm on the north Greenwood city limits.

Mr. Stafford never married. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Wallis-Hinker American Legion.

Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Paul (Lillian) Rossman.
