Zilk, Kathleen (Marriage – 31 August 1974)

Carrying a nosegay of Woburn Abbey roses and orange starflowers in a cloud of baby’s breath, Miss Kathleen Zilk became the bride of Bradley Roberts in a 3 p.m. ceremony performed Saturday, August 31, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville. The Rev. Peter Leketas of Marshfield officiated. The Wild Cat Inn was the setting later for a dinner and dance honoring the couple.

The bride, presented in marriage by her father, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Zilk. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Roberts are the groom’s parents. All are from Neillsville.

Silk organza was fashioned into an A-line silhouette to form the bridal gown chosen by the former Miss Zilk. Venise lace adorned the bodice and bell sleeves, and edged the hemline and train. A fingertip mantilla veil completed the ensemble.

Attending the bride were Miss Rita Donahue, Eau Claire, as maid-of-honor, and Mrs. Marcus Schultz, Miss Sally Zilk, and Miss Becky Roberts as bridesmaids. They appeared in gowns of sheer, fall-hued floral organza over colored taffeta, and carried baskets of butterscotch daisies, bronze pompons, and orange and bronze sunflowers.

The groom’s attendants included Bruce Rakestraw as bestman, and Marcus Schultz, Gen Kuehnel, and Larry Keller as Groomsmen. Guests were seated by John Patey, Steve Roberts, and John A. Bergemann.

Shelly Pulju was the flower girl and Billy Roberts, the ringbearer.

Soloists were Linda Diers, and Gary Heimstead. Miss Diers was also the organist.

The bride was honored at a prenuptial shower hostessed by Mrs. Schultz, and Sue Bergemann.

Following their return from a wedding trip to Denver, Co., the newlyweds will live in Neillsville where they are employed. Both are graduates of Neillsville High School, and he graduated as well from the Wausau Technical Institute’s residential design course.
