A large crowd of family, friends, and Legion members honored the four Kuhn brothers during a special awards program Oct. 2, at Neillsville American Legion Post #73. They all served their country as members of the U. S. Army.

A delicious potluck meal was enjoyed, along with special music provided by Allen Garbisch, who played a medley of patriotic songs on the piano.

Jon Weiler was a guest at the Post meeting. Weiler is the new general manager of The Highground.

Dan Luedtke received the Volunteer Award for the fourth quarter of the year. Bob Hopfer was presented with the year-end Volunteer Award. Both men received Neillsville Area Chamber of Commerce gift certificates in appreciation for their dedicated service.

It was reported that 375 people attended the recent Molly B and Jim Busta Band concert held at the Legion.

It was announced that Jake Bohman will be the Post’s Veterans Service Officer.

County Commander Chip Chadwick said that Legion Posts from throughout Clark County will combine efforts for parades, funerals, and going to events at The Highground.

The American Legion organization will be 100-years-old in 2019, along with Neillsville Post #73, Thorp Post #118, Greenwood Post #238, Owen Post #123, and Loyal Post #175.

Denise Rohan will be the National American Legion Commander in 2018. She will be the first commander from Wisconsin, and, also, the first lady to serve in that role.

The Spring 2018 Clark County meeting will be held April 25, at the Loyal Legion. The Fall 2018 Clark County meeting will be held Sept. 26, at the Greenwood Legion.

Americanism bracelets and gun raffle tickets are available at the legion. These are fundraising projects for Post #73.

The Annual Christmas party for Legion and Auxiliary members will be held Saturday, Dec. 9. The party will start at noon, with a potluck meal and a while elephant gift exchange. A slide show of past parties will be presented.

The Ladies Auxiliary voted to place a flag pole on the east end of the Neillsville Cemetery, as part of the program to place flags at all Wisconsin cemeteries.

The Legion will be open Sunday, Oct. 15, for the Packer/Viking game, which starts at noon. Snacks and pizza available. Let’s cheer on the Packers.
