Kunze, Raymond F. (15 FEB 1925 - 23 SEP 2017)

Raymond F. Kunze, 92, of Lewiston, Idaho, formally from Abbotsford, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at the Idaho State Veterans Nursing Home in Lewiston.

Raymond was born on Feb. 15, 1925, the son of Joseph and Catharine (Meyer) Kunze in Abbotsford. He attended Colby schools. He was untied in marriage to Peggy V. Howerton on June 8, 1968.

Ray served his country proudly in the army. He moved to Idaho where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. Ray and his wife lived and worked in Alaska for eight years. After returning to Idaho, they owned and operated a grocery store and Ray drove truck hauling logs and various crops. Ray enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time with family and friends.

Ray is survived by his brother, Bernard (Beverly) Kunze of Abbotsford; two sisters-in-law, Joanne Kunze of Abbotsford and Verjean Kunze of Abbotsford; and three stepchildren, Norman Eastman, Diana Mohr and Larry Copenspire. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews; plus other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Peggy; and his siblings, Frances Angelich, Lawrence Kunze, Gilbert Kunze, Estella “Teda” Sossaman, and Herbert Kunze and Helen Kunze (both in infancy).

Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home of Lewiston, Idaho oversaw arrangements.
