Doege, Mr./Mrs. Herman (Gold - 15 MAR 1970)

Mr. and Mrs. Herman Doege, Rt. 3, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), observed their fiftieth Wedding Anniversary on March 15, 1970 with a family dinner for 29 guests at their home and an open house from 2 to 5 at St. Paul's Lutheran Parlors, Thorp. One of the original attendants of 50 years ago, a sister of the groom, Mrs. Freda Keller of Dorchester, was present.

Honored guests were Mr. Doege's 89 year old uncle, Henry Russell, from Butternut, and Mrs. Doege's 90 year old cousin, Mrs. Henry Degener, of Marshfield.

Louise Gorsegner, daughter of the late Mary Teuke and Christ Gorsegner, was born August 14, 1895. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting before she became in poor health. Herman, the son of the late Clara Russell and Herman Doege, was born September 15, 1895 at Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.). Herman being in fair health enjoyed hunting and fishing. Before his marriage he was in the Army's 322nd ammunition train in 1918 and 1919 in France. They were married September 15, 1920 at Thorp by Rev. A.C. Stapel. They farmed near Withee for 38 years, and in 1958 retired and moved near Greenwood, where they have resided for the last 12 years. They are both members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Thorp.

The honored couple have five children, Herman Doege, Scot City, Mo., Arthur Doege, Thorp, Charlotte Siemek, Gilman, Robert Doege, Watkins, Minn., Grace Huberty of Columbus, Indiana; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Relatives and friends came from Chicago, Gilman, Watkins, Minn., Columbus, Ind., Thorp, Withee, Owen, Dorchester, Hannibal, Marshfield, Medford and Cadott.
