Buffington, Jane Therese (Marriage – 17 August 1974)

Seniors at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Miss Jane Buffington and Henry Louis Lamovec, Jr., were married Saturday, August 17, in a 1:30 p.m. ceremony performed at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield. Fr. Martinson of St. John’s and Fr. Mertens of Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard, were the co-celebrants.

Parents of the bridal couple are Mr. and Mrs. George Buffington, Marshfield, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lamovec, Sr., Rt. 2 Greenwood.

A cascade of pink roses and stephanotis complemented the bride’s Juliet style gown of sheer nylon organza. Pleated ruffle trim defining the bodice also edged the hemline of the skirt which swept into a chapel train. Her fingertip veil fell from a face-framing headpiece of venise lace and see pearls. She was presented in marriage by her father.

Miss Sue Goss, Mondovi, was the maid of honor, and Miss Kathy Spott, Milwaukee, and Miss Barbara Trudeau, Marshfield, were the bridesmaids. Their peasant-style gowns in shades of pink, blue, and yellow, respectively, featured short, puffed sleeves and hemline flouncing. Colonial bouquets of white daisies completed their ensembles.

Serving as bestman was Ed Perko, Willard. Groomsmen were Thomas Davis, Cedar Rapids, Ia., and Raymond Lamovec, Greenwood. Dennis Schultz, Eau Claire, and James Barr, Willard, acted as ushers.

The Knights of Columbus clubhouse in Marshfield was chosen as the setting for a dinner and dance.

The bride is a 1971 graduate of Columbus High School, Marshfield, and her husband graduated from Greenwood High School in 1967. Upon their return from a wedding trip to Northern Wisconsin, they will live in Eau Claire.
