Johnas, David A. (7 JUN 1963 - 2 SEP 2017)

David A. Johnas, 54, of Medford, passed away September 2, 2017 at Aspirus Hospital in Medford.

David was born June 7, 1963 in Medford, Wisconsin to Frank and Gladys (Nelson) Johnas. David married the love of his life Nancy “D.D.” Motte on October 3, 2008. They enjoyed every moment they spent together and life will not be the same without David. He loved life more than anything and especially his love for his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife Nancy Johnas; Daughters: Katy Lynn (Matt) Anderson of Schofield and Misty Marie (Brice) Faulkner of Medford; Grandchildren: Makenna and Jamison Anderson of Schofield, Miah and Chase Faulkner of Medford; Mother: Gladys Johnas of Medford; Mother-In-Law: Rita Motte of Medford; Brothers and Sisters: Virginia Giovacchini of Madison, Robert Johnas of Medford, Joe (Sue) Johnas of Rib Lake, Janet Gebert of Medford, Jeanne (Galen) Vesnefsky of Medford, Julia Johnas of Vernon Hills, IL, John (Sharon) Johnas of Medford, Lora Johnas of Eau Claire; Brothers and Sisters-In-Law: Mary Lou (Mark) Thums of Rib Lake, Patricia Ann (Tom Schimon) Klinger of Medford, Debra Jean (Scott) Pokallus of Spencer and Jack “Charlie” (Carol) Motte of Medford; Nieces: Thora, Katie, Amanda, Erica, Jennifer, April, Karen, Jayme, Courtney and Casey; Nephews: Dylan, Jason, Michael, Brad, Jeff, Larry, Stephan, and Matthew.

In 1986, David bought his first dump truck. As owner and operator he was working for Pitlik and Wick out of Eagle River at the time of his death. In 1999, he purchased logging equipment and started his own logging business which he owned and operated during the winter months with his brother John and nephew Michael. He loved to work and took pride in what he did and had amazing compassion for his coworkers. He was the kind of man that would do anything for anyone and would give the shirt off his back for you. He loved working on “The Ranch”. Nancy and David love the nicknames of each other “Frank and Fran”.

He enjoyed fixing machinery, working in the woods, teaching everyone how to waterski and spending time with his wife, daughters, brothers, sisters, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 5 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Medford with Rev. James Krueger officiating. Burial will follow at St. Ann's Cemetery in the Town of Greenwood. Visitation will be Monday, September 4 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford. Visitation will continue September 5 at 10:00 AM until the time of service 11:00 AM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made out to David’s family to be designated at a later date.

Hemer Funeral Service of Medford and Rib Lake has been entrusted with arrangements.
