Dann, David D. (18 March 1947 – 14 July 2017) With Flag
David D. Dann, 70, of Willard passed away Friday, July 14, 2017, in California,
from complications of liver disease.
David was born March 18, 1947, to Douglas and Shirley Dann in Seneca Falls, NY.
He served 34 years in the U. S. Navy, Army Reserves and California National
Guard combined. He served in the Vietnam War from 1968-1969. During his years of
service, David received over 14 medals and awards for his service.
He became a lifetime member of the VFW in September of 1997 and served in the
American Legion since 2010. He was both part of the Color Guard and Honor Guard.
He received an AA degree in automotive mechanics, working 30 years in the trade
before moving on to retail until he retired in 2009.
David and Beverly made their home in San Jose, CA, for 42 years, and moved back
to Willard in 2009 to retire. David then went back to work at Grassland in
Greenwood, and St. Mary’s Catholic School. David was very passionate about the
military, his family, friends, and everyone he met. Many said, “He would give
the shirt off his back” to you.
David is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Beverly from Willard; one
daughter, Damiana of San Jose, CA; one son, Robert (Lynn) of Stanley; three
grandchildren, Monet, James, and Jordan of San Jose CA; one sister, Deborah
(Carl) Tanner of Port Byron, NY; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Christopher; and two
brothers, Daryl and Dwight “Chip” Dann.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, at Holy Family
Catholic Church in Willard with Rev. Steve Brice officiating. Burial of cremains
will take place at a later date. The Greenwood American Legion Post #238 will
conduct military rites. Visitation will be held at the church Saturday from 10
a.m. until the time of the service.
