Ruth Anna Ollhoff, 92, 427 N. First Ave., Wausau, went to be with her Lord, Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

She was born April 24, 1916, in the town of Maine, daughter of the late Fred and Clara (Laabs) Hartwig. On Jan. 15, 1938, she was united in marriage to Reuben Ollhoff at St. Stephen Church in Merrill. They were happily married for 63 years. He preceded her in death April 20, 2001.

They lived for seven years in the town of Maine before moving to their current home in Wausau, where Ruth had resided for the past 63 years, raising her children. In the 1950s, Ruth was bookkeeper for the Ollhoff Furnace Co. and, for a short period, worked at the Wausau Club. In the 1960s, she went to work at Herbergers Department Store, where she worked for 14 years, enjoying all the wonderful people she met there. Ruth was a member of several card clubs and enjoyed the time spent with her friends. She belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church, Welfare Workers and the Quilters, and coordinated bus trips.

Survivors include her children, Carol Uekert, Marathon, Jim (Karen) Ollhoff, Merrill, Katie (Bob) Richey, Tomahawk, Mary Richey, Lord, Billerica, Mass., Char (Karl) Pilath, Hatley, Mike (Sandy) Ollhoff, Poynette, Mark (Josie) Ollhoff, Tina Ollhoff and Gene (Peggy) Ollhoff, all of Wausau, and Gary (Chris) Ollhoff, Merrill; 25 grandchildren, Lori (Al) Bernarde, Patti (Mike) Athanas, Mitch (Guynia), Dan, Scott and Greg (Jackie) Ollhoff, Diane (Ward) Bennett, Sherrie (Jeff) Krohn, McKenya (Bruce) Gore, Jennifer (Kory) Zimmerman, Justin, Christopher and Alissa Lord, Pete, Andrea, Steven, Rachel, Kyle, Branden, Jocelyn, Stephanie, Samantha, Natalie and Alicia Ollhoff, and Cathy (Mike) Kressel; 17 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ferdy (Elenora) Ollhoff; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David; grandchildren, Debbie Ollhoff and John Richey; brothers, Herbert and Arnold Hartwig; sisters, Irene Goetsch and Elsie Steffenhagen; and a son-in-law, Donald Uekert.

Our family is very grateful that God gave us such a loving person to be our mother and friend. She was gifted with a great sense of humor and love of people, especially when she was playing cards. The family understands that she had a good life and we could not keep her forever. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Ave., Wausau. The Rev. Matthew Hein will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
