Frane, Marjorie C. (Young) (28 OCT 1916 - 14 APR 2017)

Marjorie C. Frane, age 89, of Colby, passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Colonial Center in Colby.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Parish in Colby. Father Peter Manickam will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.

Family and friends are welcome from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Colby and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.

The Colby VFW Auxiliary will hold a service at 4:00 p.m. on Friday to be followed by the Rosary.

Marjorie was born on March 27, 1928 in Marshfield, the daughter of William and Evelyn (Carpenter) Young. She graduated from Colby High School. On September 12, 1950, Marjorie was united in marriage to John Frane at St. Mary Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on October 22, 1991.

Marjorie owned the "Like New" Shop in Colby for many years. She also was an active member of St. Mary's, including the Christian Mothers and helping with many events such as the Christmas Fair and Fall Festival. Marjorie was also a lifetime member of the Colby VFW Auxiliary.

Marjorie treasured her times spent with family and friends at the family cottage that her and husband built on the Eau Plaine Flowage. She especially liked the many pontoon boat rides, campfires and of course preparing the meals. Marjorie was creative and had many craft hobbies, including make homemade Christmas ornaments.

She was very caring as she looked out for her friends and neighbors including running errands and taking them to doctor appointments. Marjorie was a great cook, canner and baker and was always wanting to feed her family and friends. Most importantly, her children and grandchildren will remember her independence, spunkiness, her special laughter, as well as being a very loving
mother and grandmother.

Marjorie is survived by her five children: Phillip (Lynee) of Unity, Marie (Dan) Auner of Bryant, Gregory (Charlotte) of Spencer, Larry (Ronda) of Edgar and Patty (Bill) Schultz of Colby; 11 grandchildren: Matthew (Kirsten) Frane of Unity, Sarah (Brian) Hanson of Spencer, Kyle (Meghan) Auner of Denver, CO, Kelly Auner of Chula Vista, CA, Kristi (Tim) Elvester of Antigo, Cory Frane of Marshfield, Lisa (Mike) English of Orlando, FL, Katelyn (David) Frahm of Edgar, Jacob Frane of Edgar, Wendy (Josiah) Zimmermann of Marshfield and Nicole Halopka of Las Cruces, NM; 10 great-grandchildren: Nolan and Myah Frane, Brevyn, Landyn and Ashlyn
Hanson, Emri and Baby Frahm, Jackson, Jorie and Scout Zimmermann.

She is further survived by four siblings: Dorothy (Vernon) Baumgartner, Shirley Kops and Louis (Joan) Young all of Colby and Carol (Roger) Luzinski of Tomahawk; three sisters-in-law, Jackie
Young of Colby, Judi Andrew of Colby and Mary (Lew) Hildebrand of St. Paul, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John and two brothers, William and Richard.
