Sternitzky, Mr./Mrs. Leo (55th – 28 MAR 1972)

Mr. and Mrs. Leo E. Sternitzky of Granton (Clark Co., Wis.), who were married by Rev. Martin Hasz March 28, 1917, in Zion Lutheran Church, Granton, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary of their marriage on April 9, 1972.

The village Plaza in Spencer was the setting for the reception held from one to five in the afternoon. Roses and Carnations were used for the couples’ corsage and boutonniere.

Leo Elmer Sternitzky, son of William and Ella Sternitzky, was born in the town of Lynn (Clark Co.) April 8, 1892, and attended school in that township. He lived in Lynn before he married and worked as a carpenter.

He still enjoys woodworking and is in good health, as is his wife, whose hobbies are flower-making and homemaking. Both are members of Grace Lutheran Church, Neillsville.

Mrs. Sternitzky, the former Edna Caroline Jensen, daughter of Herman and Otelia Jensen, was born at Lynn August 14, 1899, and attended Popal School, Lynn.

After their marriage, the Sternitzky’s lived in Lynn for five years and since then they have resided two miles east of Lynn.

They have one son, Gerald, of Loyal, and four grandsons.

Attendants attending the anniversary Sunday were Mrs. Alfred (Addie) Riedel, Granton and Earl Opelt, Neillsville.

About 300 persons attended the events, coming from Wausau, Port Edwards, Wisconsin Rapids, Neillsville, Marshfield, Loyal, Chili and Granton.

LEO STERNITZKY WAS A COUSIN TO CARL OPELT, MY WIFE EVELYN'S DAD. HE BUILT THE HOUSE FOR CARL AND MILLIE OPELT AROUND 1960 BY OPELT'S GRAVEL PIT IN TOWN OF LEVIS. WE ALSO BUILT A HOUSE FOR OURSELVES THERE ABOUT THE SAME TIME.
JUST A NOTE THAT BRINGS BACK PLEASANT MEMORIES.
