Wendt, Emma (22 JAN 1880 – 13 JUN 1969)

Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Wendt, 89, who formerly lived in the Reseburg community, died Friday morning, June 13, 1969 at her home following a heart attack, were held Monday, June 16th in St. Luke's Lutheran Church.

The Rev. L.F. Schneider officiated. Burial was in the Reseburg Cemetery, where her remains now await the resurrection.

A native of Canada, Mrs. Wendt, the former Emma Rusch, was born in Milbank, Ontario, January 22, 1880, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rusch. She came to the United States at the age of 7, and on August 8, 1899, was married to Charles Wendt at Cadott. He died June 22, 1947, and in 1949 she moved to Wisconsin Rapids. While in Reseburg she served as Sunday School Superintendent at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Mrs. Wendt's long Christian life was a big influence to her 5 children, 16 grandchildren, and 43 great-grandchildren, also to her many friends.

Surviving are a son, George, Wisconsin rapids; four daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Elsie) Nelson, and Mrs. Emil (Minnie) Ehlert, both of Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs. Otto (Ella) Severin, Milwaukee; Mrs. Edwin (Doris) Schier, Franklin, Wis.; and three brothers, William and Edward, both of Owen, and Otto Rusch, Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. E.A. Schroeder, Wisconsin Rapids, and Mrs. R.S. Anderson, Madison.

Two brothers, a sister and a great-grandchild preceded her in death.

Mrs. Wendt was a member of the Ladies Aid and the Bible Class of St. Luke's Church, and belonged to the Two Mile Garden Club and the Two Mile Homemakers Club.
