Raine, Eleanor J. (8 February 1926 – 18 January 2017)

Eleanor J. Raine, 90, of Neillsville passed away Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at her residence. She was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Neillsville to the late Frank and Emma (Karger) Kren. She was the youngest of seven children.

She was a lifelong resident of Neillsville, where she married Darrel “Digger” Raine Feb. 19, 1944. Eleanor worked at the Schultz Brothers Store for many years as well as the Farmer’s Store and the A&P Store. She volunteered her time working for several organizations, including Life Line, Blood Mobile, teaching Sunday School at UCC, working at City hall during elections and volunteering at the hospital.

Surviving are her 10 children: Diane (Terry) Killham of Munford, TN, John (Carolyn) Raine of Marshfield, James (Beverly) Raine of Neillsville, Ellen (Michael) Artac of Willard, Carol (Eugene) Opelt, Candace (Kenneth) Marg, Joel (Marcia) Raine, Emile (Daniel) Miller and Jeff Raine, all of Neillsville, and Brenda (Mark) Wilson of Marshfield; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Sager of California; and a sister-in-law, Lois Kren of Neillsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandchild, three great-grandchildren, four brothers and one sister.

At Darrel and Eleanor’s request, no services will be held. A private burial will take place at the Neillsville City Cemetery later.

The Cremation Society of Wisconsin is assisting the family.
