Soczka, Lawrence F. (31 OCT 1919 - 10 FEB 2009)

Lawrence F. Soczka, 89, Edgar, died Tuesday morning, February 10, 2009 at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cassel. Rev. Barnabas Kyea will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Friends may call Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services all at the church. There will be a rosary service at 4:00 p.m. Friday at the church.

He was born October 31, 1919 in the town of Rietbrock, son of the late Jacob and Anna (Stencil) Soczka. On July 19, 1941, he married Nettie Lewandowski at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cassel. She preceded him in death on January 13, 1976.

In his younger years, Lawrence worked as a logger in Wisconsin and Michigan, and then settled in the town of Emmet where he farmed for the majority of his life.

Survivors include, two sons, Norman (Joan) Soczka and Darrel (Janice) Soczka, both of Edgar; three daughters, Jane Lewerenz, Marshfield, Shirley (Anthony) Liss, Edgar and Nancy Hall, Marathon; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife, Nettie, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Soczka; and three sisters, Irene Soczka, Josephine Dvorak and Catherine Pospychalla.
