Christiansen, Elroy Arnold (6 AUG 1943 - 17 JAN 2010)

Elroy Arnold Christiansen, 66, of Edgar, passed away peacefully at home, Sunday, January 17, 2010, with his wife, children and grandchildren by his side.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 23, 2010 at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. Rev. Robert Streveler will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2010 at St. John Catholic Church and again from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of the mass all at the church.

Pallbearers will be Elroy’s five nephews and brother-in-law, Robyn Christiansen, Scott Christiansen, Ricky Borchardt, Michael Christiansen, Jesse Christiansen and Charles Ludwig. Following the service, a luncheon will be served in the church dining hall.

Elroy was born August 6, 1943, in the town of Frankfort, to Sebastian and Martha (Gribowski) Christiansen. In 1968, he married Lynn D. Ludwig of Colby and together they made their home in Edgar, where they have resided for the past 42 years.

Elroy served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was a life-long member of the VFW. After service, he was accepted into the State Indentured Electrical Apprenticeship for the I.B.E.W. and retired as a Union Electrician after 41 years of service.

Elroy was proud of who he was and of his family. If asked he would say “my greatest contributions are the ones I will leave behind.” His passion was for nature. He encompassed every aspect the land had to offer including the crops, the woods and the animals.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn, who resides at their home in Edgar; son, Clinton (Kimberly) Christiansen of Woodbury Minnesota and daughter, Renee (Steven) Andress of Cedar Hill Tennessee; two grandchildren, Alexa Christiansen and Cole Christiansen; mother, Martha, who resides at the Marshfield Care Center; three brothers and one sister, Kenneth (Kay) Christiansen of Plainfield, Garry (Barbara) Christiansen of Mosinee, Patricia (Ardell) Emon of Stratford, Kevin (Geri) Christiansen of Fenwood; sister-in-law, Joan Christiansen of Edgar and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sebastian.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Edgar, WI or Aspirus Regional Cancer Center, Wausau, WI or Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services, Wausau, WI.

His years of life were short, but his dash was forever long. Everyday will be a lifetime without him.

Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar is in charge of arrangements.
