Weiler, David A. (10 MAR 1945 - 17 AUG 2011)

David A. Weiler, 66, Athens, died Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. The Very Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again on Weds. From 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish prayer service at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Athens funeral home.

He was born March 10, 1945, in the town of Bern, son of the late Theodore and Gertrude (Dassow) Weiler. On May 16, 1970, he married Barbara Mullins at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. She preceded him in death March 18, 2002. He married Mary Theurer-Hoefs in October 2006. She preceded him in death July 28, 2007.

David was a veteran of the Viet Nam War, serving in the US Army. For several years, David had been employed as a cheesemaker with Mullins Cheese, Athens. He also hauled milk and worked as a cheesemaker for Gad Cheese, Medford, as well as operating a dairy farm in the town of Halsey. Among his favorite things to do were, fishing and hunting, especially deer and turkey but most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include three children, Keith (Tiffany) Weiler, Athens, Kim (Chad) Ebben, Merrill, Andrea (Kory) Mader, Athens, five grandchildren, Colten & Kiera Weiler;Logan & Connor Ebben; Emersyn Mader; eight siblings, Norbert (Nancy) Weiler, Medford, Rosie (Charles) Simchick, Penn., Tom (Betsy) Weiler, Athens, Carol (Dave) Geiger, Dorchester, Nancy Weiler, Wausau, Bev Fula, Wauwatosa, Dan (Florica) Weiler, Malaysia, Sherri (Clay) Boeger, Stratford; two brothers-in-law, Randy Mullins, Athens and Dean (Wilma) Mullins, Rhinelander.
