Zurek, Gerda (Thomas) (3 SEP 1937 - 24 FEB 2014)

Gerda Zurek, age 76, of W2399 Spirit Wood Avenue, Ogema, passed away on Monday, February 24 at the Memorial Health Center, Medford, where she had been a patient for less than one day.

Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 27 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Rib Lake, with Pastor David Clements officiating. Cremainal Inurnment will take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Rib Lake.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Hadrian and Avery Zurek.

Visitation will be at 11:00 A.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 27 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Rib Lake.

Gerda was born on September 3, 1937 in New York City, New York, to Otto and Irma (Mittendorf) Thomas.

She attended High School in Forest Hills High, New York.

Gerda was united in marriage to Wladyslav Z. Zurek, and he preceded her in death in February 1985.

She was a housewife and mother. She enjoyed reading and walking.

Gerda is survived by a son Daniel Zurek of Pittsburg, Kansas; grandchildren Hadrian and Avery Zurek of Pittsburg, Kansas; sister Margaret Thomas of Forest Hills, New York.

She is predeceased by her parents, Otto and Irma (Mittendorf) Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made in Gerda’s name to Hope Hospice 537 West Broadway Avenue Medford, Wisconsin 54451.
