Aden, Mary M. (31 OCT 1931 – 13 NOV 2016)
Mary M. Aden, 85, Spencer, formerly of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), passed away
on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at the House of the Dove in Marshfield. A memorial
service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, Nov. 18, at Cuddie Funeral Home in
Greenwood. Rev. Steve Brice will officiate. Visitation will be held at Cuddie
Funeral Home, on Friday, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Mary Margaret Otteson was born on Oct. 31, 1931, in Pioneer, Iowa, the daughter
of Lawrence E. and Mary P. (nee Bradley) Otteson. She received her elementary
education at Jackson #4 in Clare, Iowa, and graduated from Manson High School in
Manson, Iowa, in 1949. After completing her education, Mary worked as a clerk at
Murphy’s Variety Store in Manson, Iowa, and was a telephone operator in Manson,
for the Iowa Continental Telephone Company of Grinnell, Iowa. She married Donald
R. Aden on June 23, 1954, at St. Patrick’s on the Lizard Catholic Church in
Clare, Iowa. They moved to Neillsville on June 4, 1959, where they had purchased
a farm. They sold the farm in 1977 and moved to Colby, where they had purchased
another farm. They retired in October 1989. On Sept. 29, 1995, they moved to
Greenwood, where they purchased a small hobby farm. Mary was a homemaker and
farmwife her entire married life. She had many interests, but especially loved
spending time with her family, soap operas, The Ice Capades, and traveling.
She is survived by two daughters: Lynnette (Frank) Quinter of Greenwood, and
Loni (Richard) Paquette of Stoughton; four sons: Donald L. (Jean) Aden of Sun
Prairie, Mark L. Aden of Willard, Kevin J. Aden of Columbus, and William J.
(Cynthia) Aden of Spencer; 16 grandchildren: Skye Frank, Douglas Sheffer, Jaime
Trongaard, Holly Neu, Noah Aden, Jared Aden, Jeremiah Aden, Eathen Aden, Tashyna
Aden, Chezyrae Baker, Shynyque Aden, Ashley Aden, Alyssa Anderson, Hayley Aden,
Jenny Quinter, and Jessica Rhodes; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald, on Aug. 16, 2007;
and one brother: Richard Otteson.
