Wahl, Mary (Davis) (1927? - 14 OCT 2016)

Mary Wahl was called home by our Savior on Friday, October 14, 2016, and passed peacefully in her sleep. She was 89 years old.

She was born to Ray and Edna Davis in Medford and was the youngest of three children.

Her childhood years were during the depression. She graduated Medford High School near the end of WW II.

In July, 1953, she married Doral Wahl and he preceded her in death in October, 1991. Mary enjoyed bowling and spending time with family and friends. She was a dedicated member of the United Church of Christ in Evansville. During her many years in the congregation, Mary invested most of her talents to quilting and was honored in 2009 at a special service of recognition on her quilting retirement. Several of her quilts were on display around the church for the service.

Mary was also a Girl Scout leader for many years. Mary loved to travel and after her husband passed, she started enjoying motor coach touring. She spent the last 20 years on numerous bus trips visiting nearly every state and national park. She was accompanied on some trips by her daughter and niece, including trips to mystery locations. Some of her favorite things were her cat and Wisconsin Badger football.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Gail Polzin Locy, of Milwaukee; grandchildren, Scott Locy of Milwaukee and Amanda (Jason) Bacher of Hartford; great-grandsons, Joseph and Jacob Bacher.

She is further survived by nieces and nephews in Wisconsin, Illinois and Texas. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her brother, Stanley; sister, Marguerite and niece, Susan.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Kelly House and Agrace Hospice for the care given to Mary. Ward-Hurley Funeral Home is assisting the family.

A family burial will take place in Mary’s hometown of Medford at a later date. Condolences may be expressed at www.Wardhurtley.com.
