McCord, Marjorie B. (Kent) (21 SEP 1939 - 24 AUG 2016)

Marjorie B. McCord, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Wausau Aspirus Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Christ United Church in Athens. Pastor Teri Hanson will officiate. Interment will follow at the Athens Public Cemetery.

Family and friends are welcome from 4:00 p.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church.

Marjorie was born on September 21, 1939 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of James and Ola (Herring) Kent. She graduated from Richmond Union High School in Richmond, CA.

On July 12, 1958, Marjorie was united in marriage to Foster McCord in El Sobrante, CA. Together they moved to the Athens area on a hobby farm in 1966. She worked as a Nurses' Aide at the nursing home in Medford and Colby, retiring in 2004.

Marjorie had a strong faith and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to crochet and gave away 64 lap blankets she made. Marjorie also enjoyed her flower garden and watching the hummingbirds.

Marjorie is survived by her husband of 58 years, Foster; three children: Timothy (Sherri), John (fiancee', Lisa Young) and Bonnie (Rick) Weiler all of Athens; six grandchildren: Melissa (Chris) Platz, Megen (fiance', Adrian Sazama), Danielle (fiance', Darren Ashbeck), Jessica, Dylan (fiancee', Maddie Hilgers) Weiler and Caitlin Weiler; two great-grandchildren: Trenton and Allison Platz. She is further survived by her sister, Ilene (Paul) Walz of Lincoln, CA; her nephew, nieces, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Twilla.
