Duda, Joseph A. (12 February 1902 - 2 July 1974)

A retired construction worker, Joseph A. Duda of Rt. 1 Greenwood died Tuesday, July 2, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield at the age of 72. Funeral services are to be held Saturday at 2 p.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church, Greenwood, with Rev. Douglas Groenewold officiating. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

The body of Mr. Duda will be in state at the Georgas Funeral Home from Friday morning until Saturday noon, when it will be taken to the church to lie in state there from 1 p.m. until time of services.

Joseph Duda, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mathew Duda, was born February 12, 1902, in Haugen and was educated there. His marriage to the former Edith Timerson took place August 25, 1924, in Christie. During his lifetime, he did farm work and was employed by the Clark County Highway Dept., the Schultz Brothers construction company of Neillsville and the Bloomer and Son, Inc., construction of Appleton. Mr. Duda, who was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and of the operating Engineers Union, retired in December of 1973.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: L. Duda of Bremerton, Wa, Donald Duda of Shawano and Mrs. Don (Audrey) Lenz of Greenwood; three sisters: Mrs. Emma Drost of Brill, Mrs. Libbey Smetana of Bloomer and Mrs. Theresa Veldhuizen of Watertown; and by 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
