Pitzke, Lucille May (Steevens) (19 JUL 1932 - 15 AUG 2016)

Lucille May Pitzke, age 91, passed away on Monday, August 15, at Aspirus Care and Rehab, Medford where she had resided for the past 3 years.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 18 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville, with Rev. James H. Babler officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, Stetsonville, Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM Thursday August 18.

Lucille was born on February 16, 1925, in the Town of Deer Creek, to Henry R. and Emma Louisa (Carstensen) Steevens.

She was a graduate of Pleasant Valley Grade School, Medford High School, and Wausau Technical College.

On June 1, 1946, at Stetsonville, she married Daniel W. Pitzke. He preceded her in death April 30, 1990.

After marriage they resided in Milwaukee for a period of time. In 1949 they returned to the Stetsonville area. Lucille did clerical work in Wausau, Milwaukee, and Medford. She also worked at the Farm and Home Administration until she retired in 1986. In her retirement she did volunteer work. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, sewing, quilting, cooking, and playing the harmonica.

Lucille was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville, Zion Ladies Aid, Thrivent Financial, Stetsonville American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and Medford VFW Auxiliary.

She is survived by a daughter, Karen (Lyle) Hansel of Murrells Inlet, SC; and grandchild Anne Allard of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.

Lucille is predeceased by her parents, Henry R. Emma Louisa (Carstensen) Steevens; daughter: Sharon S. Pitzke in 1993; sister Geraldine Fierke; brothers: Jerome, Bucky, and Marvin Steevens.

Memorials may be made to Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville.
