McVicker, Dorwin E. (19 JUL 1932 - 14 AUG 2016)

Dorwin E. McVicker, 84 of Jump River, died Sunday, August, 14, 2016 at his home under the care of Hope Hospice.

He was born on July 19, 1932 in Medford to the late Earl and Leslia (Daughenbaugh) McVicker.
He was raised in the area and married Marilyn Guite on March 29, 1956 in Minnesota.

Dorwin started working for the Taylor County Highway Department but then entered the Army and served his country during the Korean Conflict from 1952-54. He returned to Jump River and
worked for the Taylor County Highway Department. until 1974. Dorwin then worked at Jack Pine Division until 1980 and he retired.

He was a member of Hugh Warner VFW Post 2977, the Sheldon American Legion and the Jump River Lions Club. He enjoyed playing baseball in his early years, horseshoes, fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his children, Donald “Tiny” (Kathy) McVicker, Dale McVicker, Cheryl McVicker, Lisa McVicker and April “Pee Wee” McVicker all of Jump River, Kelly (Richard) Keller of Crivitz, Tina (Jim) Facer of Dover, Delaware and Deanna McVicker of Gilman, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and his sister, Virginia Keepers of Springfield, MO.

Dorwin is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, his parents, three children, Angela, Ira and Joseph, 2 grandchildren, Francis and Johnathon and his sister Vivian.

A funeral service take place at 11AM on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Jump River Community Center with Rev. Joey Olsen officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Nebo Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 PM at the Gilman Funeral Home and Saturday one hour prior to services at the Community Center.
