Techmeier, Dolores (14 April 1925 - 7 August 2016)

Dolores Techmeier, 91, of Stanley, died Sunday, August 7, 2016, at Miller Care in Thorp under the care of Hope Hospice. She was born on April 14, 1925, in Thorp, the daughter of the late Oscar and Catherine (Heimann) Mertens. Dolores grew up in the area and on August 22, 1944, married Herbert Techmeier.

Dolores farmed, ran the Hotel Bar in Stanley, and worked for the Clark County Health Care Center. She loved spending time with her family, baking, gardening, bird watching, and had a general love of the countryside.

She is survived by her children: Carol Ohnesarge of Strum, Judy Eilers of Chetek, pat (Jerry) Slowiak of Thorp, Don (Debra) Techmeier of Stanley, and Mary (Kent) Olson of Oshkosh; 14 grandchildren; 17 ½ great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Bernard (Maryann) Mertens of King and Robert (Rosalie) Mertens of Thorp; and two sisters: Theresa (Don) Westberg of Eau Claire and Margaret (Felix) Slowiak of Stanley.

Dolores is preceded in death by her parents; husband Herbert (1952); son-in-law, John Eilers; brothers: Hugo, Francis, and Father Michael Mertens; and sisters: Catherine Huzaga, Marie Weix, Marcella Nye, Helen Koenig and Ruth Weix.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father William Felix officiating. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the Church.

Plombon Funeral Service-Stanley assisted the family with arrangements.
