Kountz, Emma Julia (18 Mar 1853 – 15 Mar 1919)

Mrs. R.F. Kountz died on Saturday morning at her home in this city after an illness of several months. She was born Emma Julia Bailey at Bradford, New Hampshire, on March 18, 1853. She lived there during her childhood and came back to Black River Falls with her parents when a young lady. There she met R.F. Kountz and they were Married on Feb. 11, 1872. They lived at Black River Falls for two years and then came to Neillsville, which city remained their home ever since. One daughter, Miss Katherine, was born to them. Mrs. Kountz is survived by her husband, daughter, her aged mother, Mrs. Julia Bailey, and one sister, Mrs. Williams, of Everett, Wash.

Mrs. Kountz had been a resident of this city since 1874 and during that time she had made friends who remained true to her because of her inherent kindness and loyal characteristics. She was of a cheery disposition and of more than ordinary mental ability so that her life was one of pleasure to herself as well as to her associates. Mrs. Kountz was buried at Greenwood on Tuesday, brief services being conducted at the family home in the morning. The remains were taken to Greenwood where services were held by Rev. Longenecker.
